In
this system, waste material is burned at an extremely high
temperature, while traveling in a high speed vortex, burning
fully in suspension. Through a patented process, the
particulate matter is reintroduced back into the vortex where
it burns completely until no mass is left.
This is a unique process, in that the Vortex III™,
unlike typical combustion systems, doesn't use a grate.
The combination of high temperatures (2000°F) and high speed
(90 mph) along with the reintroduction of waste matter,
eliminates all of the particulate matter, with no fly ash or
sterile ash residue, and without giving off noxious odors or
harmful emissions. Also unlike today's available
systems, the Vortex III™
does not require scrubbers to filter the exhaust, or to clean
the inside of the unit. With all of the
waste material burning while trapped in suspension inside the
vortex,
nothing is allowed to settle against the inner walls of the
combustion chamber.
To complete the VorCinErgy™ process, the Vortex III™ is
connected to a steam boiler and steam turbine generator.
The process of waste to energy (WtE) using this type of combustion source in combination with a steam generator
has been around for decades. In fact, nearly 80% of all
electricity in the world is generated with the use of a steam
turbine. Other combustion sources include jet engines,
coal-fired furnaces,
and natural gas ovens.

By taking an existing concept of WtE, we have improved the
process with a state of the art technology that ensures that
there are no harmful emissions, and creates a small footprint,
high output energy recovery system that can be built closer to
populated areas than current methods. This
also saves time and money, and reduces carbon emissions from
long-haul transportation of collected waste.
The Vortex III™ can be used
for municipal waste management, as well as industrial waste
and hospital, medical, infectious waste (HMIW). In the
past, this unit has also been used to destroy contaminated
waste materials from a nuclear fuel rod facility while not
giving off any harmful emissions. More recent
adaptations are available for woody biomass (forest thinning)
to energy production. |
